Stop in at Ray’s for factory scheduled maintenance on your domestic or foreign car. Our skilled mechanics have over 70 years of combined experience and are experts on any make or model you bring in to our shop for service.

When Should I Come In For Scheduled Maintenance?

Factory scheduled maintenance should be performed on the 30-60-90 scale. This means you bring your car in for work every 30,000 miles. So, a brand new car gets work done at 30,000 miles, and then doesn’t need to be inspected again until the 60,000 mile mark, and so on. Once you pass the 90,000 mile mark, it is advised that you start getting maintenance performed closer to every 20,000 miles just to be safe.

Of course, each car has its own specific recommendations found in the owner’s manual. These specifications are set by the vehicle’s manufacturer in order to get the most use out of the car.

What Is The Difference Between Scheduled Maintenance and Regular Maintenance?

Scheduled maintenance is general vehicle upkeep as recommended by the vehicle’s manufacturer. Each interval in the 30-60-90 scale comes with its basic maintenance that becomes more important as the vehicle gets older. As you can imagine, a car with 100,000+ miles on it requires a bit more work than a brand new one. This maintenance includes detailed inspections of fluids, filters, spark plugs, and general wear and tear.

Regular maintenance is more frequent maintenance to the key parts of your car. It’s the simple maintenance that ensures your car’s safety and longevity. For example, an oil change is recommended every 3,000 miles or so. However, some cars can go longer without oil changes, some reaching even the 10,000 mile mark before requiring an oil change.

In addition, your tires and brakes are inspected during regular maintenance. Our professionals will check things like tire pressure and when you last had your wheels aligned, rotated, and/or balanced. A mechanic will also look at your brake pads to make sure they haven’t worn down too much.

Why Is Scheduled and Regular Maintenance So Important?

In short, it’s the most cost effective way to ensure your car runs stronger and longer. It keeps huge costly repairs to a minimum because any minor problems will be fixed before they become major problems.
